Tubu Tree Camp is situated on Hunda island in the private Jao Concession of the world-renowned Okavango Delta. Hunda island encompasses dry land, riverine forests and floodplains that attracts an abundance of wildlife all year round. Hunda is most famous for its large density of game species and its spectacular leopard sightings.
Tubu Tree Camp boasts eight canvas Tented Rooms built on raised decks and linked by wooden walkways. Each tent features an en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe, and a private deck overlooking the floodplains.
The camp facilities include a dining and lounge area, an outdoor bar overlooking the floodplains, and a swimming pool.
The perfect combination of wet and dry habitats make it possible to experience both land and water activities.
Activities offered at the camp include daily game drives, night drives, mokoro excursions (seasonal), boating safaris (seasonal), catch and release fishing (seasonal), and bird watching.
There are two hides in the area, one of which is located about 20 minutes from camp. This hide can be transformed into a Star Bed for sleep-outs for a maximum of four people at a time. The hide is equipped with a long-drop loo.
Situated in the very heart of the wetlands of the Okavango Delta, the 150 000-acre Jao Concession embodies all the magic and mystique of Botswana with vegetation that varies from permanent swamps to dry land. On its western side, the area is drier than the east, and Hunda Island, which is the tip of a large 'sand tongue,' is the largest area of dry land in the Jao Concession during the inundation (July-September). Hunda Island has sandveld vegetation providing excellent browsing for herds such as large concentrations of wildebeest and zebra with others such as giraffe and elephant seen too. Birding in the Jao Concession is exceptional, with the western drier areas hosting crimson-breasted shrike, Dickinson’s Kestrel and Meyer’s parrot. Other exciting species in Jao include swamp nightjar and brown firefinch.
The area is a combination of open grasslands, dry forest and shallow floodplains. Therefore game viewing is varied. Giraffe, elephant, lion, warthog, lechwe, hippo, leopard, cheetah, tsessebe, buffalo, serval and aardwolf plus all the plains game. Excellent leopard sightings.
Tuba Tree Camp is ideal for solo explorers, couples and families looking for a rewarding safari experience in the delta.

Pascal is a travel angel! Highly recommend him.
We started planning for our safari trip contacting a bunch of different travel advisors but Pascal's service truly stood out to us as the best in the industry. He took care of planning everything from start to finish for our very last minute honeymoon trip (literally a month out and during the busiest safari season). He is extremely meticulous and very responsive to our 100 questions. He shared first hand experiences at each of the different lodges, personal pictures and gave us solid recommendations within our budget. He hopped on a call with us initially to explain all the differences to us first time safari goers, and continued to be very flexible and patient with us as we couldn't decide!
